Finding A Job In Today's Market That Can Become A Career?
The Situation With Jobs
Many people out there will tell you finding a job is impossible. We are left to assume of course this leaves out jobs at minimum wage. That is only reasonable you wouldn't want a career flipping burgers. Jobs are being cut in the upper levels, not so much the lower.
This brings us back to the way it was 100 years ago. To get the best jobs, you had to be the best. If you were the best iron worker, you were chosen as the man in charge, if you were average, you got paid an average salary. Over the years we have gotten to thinking everyone is worth the same.
That is a lie.
I don't care what people say, if one person has worked in the food industry successfully for 20 years, and someone is a carpenter. One should be paid more if they work in the food service industry. What can each bring to the table.
The end goal is to make yourself the best employee you can be. Here is how we can help you!

Personal Development
Before you try to sell your time to someone, you need to establish what you are worth to them. There are some generic things you can do. Things like first aid, workshops and any other generic courses that could be of use to someone looking to hire a career employee. As you have more of these certifications, you become of more worth to a prospective employer. I will list them below so you can see which may be beneficial to you!
There are also certifications specific to a field. If you are a chef you want to get a Red Seal. (In Canada.) This means you can do anything and do it well. Pair this with a good grade on a Food Safety course. You are the best potential to receive a job and career in your chosen profession. This is something you would have to individually research. It would be a bit silly for me to try to cover that!
In short, you want to be the best you can be in as broad a way as possible, while being specially skilled in the one type of work you are looking for.
Getting Youself Out There
Our society often comes down to who you know instead of who you are. If it comes down to you both knowing the same people, who you are then begins to matter. We are now going to look at how you get that interview. You are going to need one to find a job in today's market.
You need to be sure never to burn bridges, whether it be a bad landlord, a bad first job employer or a bad day with people you barely know. All of these can influence the rest of your life. You need to be the kind of person today that someone would recommend to hire for an important position in their company tomorrow. If not, you have already hit a dead end.
You cannot do everything in this area. This is the reason places like 'Linked In' and 'Monster' exist. You can often find effective ways to get job leads online. In person or in the 'real world' is often even much better than that. I found myself in a management position months after starting to work for a company. They hired me and I tried my best to give a good impression of myself and it worked. If you carry yourself properly and have something behind you. (This is where previous work references and the like become very important.)
I wish you the best of luck finding that job you are looking for. You will need to compete to be the best at what you do. Use the links provided here and just keep going. Your job and career await you!
